Latest Update on Leading Hotels of the World USD19.28 Promotion
Hurray, the sale is finally back on again!!

The USD 19.28 promotion will now take place on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at www.lhw.com/1928. The sale will begin at 2:00 p.m. GMT (10 a.m. in New York, 7:00 a.m. in Los Angeles, 3:00 p.m. in London, and 11:00 p.m. in Tokyo) and will last for a total of 80 minutes. For those in Singapore, the sale will happen at 10:00pm. The above URL will become active 24 hours prior to the launch. Should you try to visit the URL before then, you will be redirected to a status page.

In order to help us prepare for the event, Leading Hotels of the World has given us some helpful information on the format of the sale:
  • When you arrive at the dedicated site, you will not be asked to register or log-in. For legal reasons and in adherence to the original Terms & Conditions, they are unable to restrict any individuals from participating in this global offer.
  • Participants will be required to complete a travel request form, available exclusively at the dedicated site. Submission of this online form within the 80-minute promotion interval is the only way to potentially secure one of the 6,000 room nights that are available at the USD 19.28 rate.
  • Forms will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Your requests will be fulfilled based on availability. Please remember that rooms and available dates vary among participating hotels.
  • They will only accept and process one travel request form per household (rooms are based on double-occupancy); duplicate forms will be disqualified and discarded.
    Within seven days, you will be notified via email whether or not your reservation request was fulfilled. If your reservation has been secured, you will receive an automatically-generated confirmation from The Leading Hotels of the World. Please print a copy of this confirmation as you will need to present it to reception upon your arrival at the hotel along with proof of identity.

Things To Know In Advance Of The Sale About The Travel Request Form:

  • You will be asked for your contact information including name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address. At no point will you be asked to provide credit card information.
  • You will have a chance to submit your top three hotel choices with two possible arrival dates for each. In order to familiarize yourself with the participating hotels, please peruse the list below.
  • You will be required to review and accept the sale’s Terms & Conditions, highlighted prominently on the travel request form, prior to submitting your travel request.

Update on Leading Hotels of the World 19.28 promotion
For those who did not manage to access the Leading Hotels of the World US$19.28 promotion due to their technical glitch, here's an update from them:

I would like to once again express my gratitude for your continued support, understanding, and patience with The Leading Hotels of the World. Since October 1, we have explored and evaluated many solutions to the technological failures encountered during the online USD 19.28 Sale.

I am delighted to inform you that today we selected Akamai Technologies, Inc., the world premier web content delivery network, with clients such as Yahoo, Travelocity, and Amazon. Together we are working diligently to finalize a new procedure whereby you, as well as the other 150,000 registrants, will have a chance to secure one of the originally allotted 6,000 room nights that are available at the rate of USD 19.28.

In developing a fair and foolproof platform, we have been faced with various considerations. Timing - both on the developmental front as well as for your trip-planning purposes - has proven to be our major and foremost concern. We chose to preserve the hotel availability dates, which in most cases began on November 1, as to not delay the promotion by several months. We also opted to maintain the promotion on a first-come, first-served basis. To make the offer a random selection or lottery would significantly delay the re-launch due to complicated international regulations. Lastly, we wanted to ensure successful communication to registrants in a prompt manner. We are now confident that, with Akamai, we have found a solution that addresses all of these challenges.

Please note that you will not be receiving any further emails, rather, we have decided to post all future updates and details on a dedicated website at www.lhw.com/1928status, which will go live on Monday, October 13. This will allow all registrants, throughout the various parts of the globe, simultaneous and equal access to the USD 19.28 updates around the clock. All updates will indicate the date and time of posting. Please know that we have intentionally communicated this website address only to registrants in order not to dilute your chances of securing a reservation at the promotional rate. We will announce the details of the new USD 19.28 promotion, no later than Friday, October 17, which will occur the following week. The sale details will be posted at least 48 hours before the promotion begins.

The Leading Hotels of the World Presents US$19.28 promotion
The Leading Hotels of the World is celebrating its 80th anniversary by releasing a limited number of their most-coveted hotel rooms at the unprecedented rate of USD 19.28 per night.


At 12 noon GMT (8 a.m. EST/Eastern Standard Time) on October 1, 2008, it will release the hotel rooms at the celebratory USD 19.28 rate.



Too good a deal to believe? Well, if you read the fine lines, there are some restrictions of course:

- This special offer will only be available for 80 minutes at 12 noon GMT (8.a.m. Eastern Time) on October 1, 2008.

- Only pre-registered customers are eligible for the offer. You can sign-up here http://www.lhw.com/1928_SIGNUP.aspx?ext=1928

- Registered customers can only reserve up to a maximum of two nights at USD 19.28 per night (exclusive of taxes, VAT or other supplemental charges) at a single participating hotel for travel between November 1 and December 15, 2008.

- All purchases are restricted to one reservation per customer and are non-transferable.


Still a pretty good deal if you are looking at a short trip to a single neighbouring country. For me, I am hoping to book a room at the Langham Hong Kong or Banyan Tree Bangkok. If I manage to redeem air tickets using my frequent flyer miles, this will be a really cheap holiday for me!
